Paradigm - Salient - Double Edge Safety Razor - Satin Finish 316 Stainless Steel

It is a smooth and forgiving shaver with moderate blade gap and exposure, suitable for beginner and expert alike. The Salient will not break your piggy bank, but no effort has been spared with regard to quality. It is CNC machined, with critical tolerances of 0.05mm.

While straightforward in design, great time and thought have been put into the construction of the handle. The brief was for 1) solid grip; 2) optimal balance; and 3) beautiful appearance.

The grip has four, large, deeply-grooved rings to hold onto. It's not going to slip, even in a hand made slick by shaving soap. In contrast to knurling, which is usually made by a shallow press tool, the Salient grip is substantial and reliable. 

Balance was also a critical consideration. The outward flared ornament places the center of mass in the handle, where it belongs. A head-heavy razor puts the weight in effect at the end of a lever arm. It doesn't "do the work for you," so much as increase pressure on the skin. The head of the Salient is light and nimble, making hard to reach places accessible, as well is properly balancing the weight of the razor.

The finish was created by a two-stage process which yields a smooth, bright, satin appearance, pleasing to the hand as well as the eye. It will not hold finger prints. We bead blasted the razors to break rough edges and minimize the appearance of tool marks, then electropolished to brighten it and improve reflectivity. Electropolishing also provides outstanding passivation, which helps minimize the tendency toward rusting. Together with our upgrade to 316 stainless, which many customers requested, the razor will resist corrosion admirably.

Finally, while not ornate, the handle has a rugged, industrial design. It is as attractive as it is functional. In particular with the satin finish, the open area on the handle has a clean, modern aspect.
